As a provider of healing services it is my job to ensure that I do my best to create moments where my clients can let go of their pain. Don't ever forget that, it is the combined effort of our partnership that tries to ensure that you have a safe moment to release your pain. That can be a very difficult thing to do.
I am thankful for being able to work with the wonderful people who are my clients. I decided to go back to school (The Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy, http://www.collegeofmassage.com/ ) in 2002, after spending the previous 12 years working in a variety of restaurants. I was a Registered Massage Therapist for 3 years, and decided that I wished to try things that as an RMT I would not be able to do. One of these things is getting rid of a fee structure and allowing my clients the choice as to what they are able to pay. I am well aware that many people do not have benefits, and $70 and hour can be a lot of money, though I definitely believe that massage is worth $70 an hour. All people can benefit from massage in some form, and it is my desire to help facilitate that.
I also wish to integrate the things that I am learning in other courses into my massage. The healing work that I have been doing on myself has been about integrating all aspects of who I am. On days off, you can often find me enjoying my garden and flower beds, singing, dancing, and occassionally crying. Enjoying life, and releasing deep grief had been a theme of my life for the past year. It seems that the theme of my life has now switched to gathering resources. I have finished the first year training in a 2 year Advanced Shamanism Program in November of 2007. More information regarding this program and what Shamanism is can be found at www.shamanismcanada.com. I am also finishing up a correspondence course with Susun Weed, an herbalist from the states. This course discusses different healing styles, with a focus on learning the Wise Woman Tradition of healing. Here is a link that will give some information regarding that course, http://www.susunweed.com/Correspondence-Course.htm#cc4 .
At this time, I have three beautiful children, ages 8, 11, and 14, and an amazing husband with whom I share my love of moviemaking. You can check out the previous, and up and coming productions of our dynamic duo at www.duramaterproductions.com .
